Equivalent waveguide model for parabolic index planar segmented waveguides

چکیده
In this paper we outline a simple procedure to obtain an equivalent z-invariant waveguide for a given graded index segmented waveguide. In particular, the proposed model is shown to predict accurately the modal spot size and the effective indices of the fundamental and the first higher order modes of a planar parabolic-index segmented waveguide over the entire range of duty cycles. The result should be useful in simplifying the analysis of general graded index segmented waveguides.

Optical fiber refractive index profile synthesis from near field
Abstract – A new and accurate refractive index profile synthesis method for optical waveguides is demonstrated using the transmitted near electric field data. This method is based on an inverse transmission line technique. From Maxwell’s equations, we derive a transmission line equivalent circuit for the refractive index profile of a cylindrical dielectric waveguide. We demonstrate how to use t...
متن کاملDark solitons on an intense parabolic background in nonlinear waveguides
We address the dynamics of fundamental and higher-order dark solitons on the intense parabolic background in a planar graded-index waveguide with self-defocusing nonlinearity. It is shown that dark solitons on the parabolic background can propagate stably, and feature the properties similar to dark solitons for standard nonlinear Schrödinger equation. We present an approximate solution for dark...

In this article it is shown that for specific initial conditions an input beam injected in a Multimode Periodic Segmented Waveguides (MPSW) does not diffract and remains collimated all along the waveguide whereas a speckle like pattern is expected at the output of a multimode structure. This nonintuitive behavior can be explained with the help of ray and wave chaos properties. A modal analysis ...

Planar waveguides are useful to transport, concentrate and distribute light uniformly over large dimensions. For these reasons, the possibility of making them even more efficient could be of considerable interest for the community. The obs...
